Hirschfeld President Elected to AISC Board: Richard Phillips Appointed to Board of Directors

San Angelo, TX (August 24, 2010) – Hirschfeld Industries – one of the largest fabricators of steel bridges, structural, industrial and nuclear projects in North America – today announced the appointment of President Richard Phillips to the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) board of directors.

Confirmed during the AISC’s recent quarterly meeting in Chicago, Richard will serve on the board of directors, assisting with the organization’s planning and leadership in the steel construction industry.

As President of Hirschfeld Industries, Richard is responsible for the management of all operating divisions for the company, including financing and human resources. He also oversees all executive-level strategic business decisions, capital positioning, market development and investment in capital assets. Richard also serves as CEO of Martifer-Hirschfeld Energy Systems, a partnership with Oliveira de Frades, Portugal-based Martifer Group to manufacture state-of-the-art wind tower systems, where he manages North American operations and supervising wind tower design, production and shipping. 
 
Phillips initially served as chief financial officer for Hirschfeld Industries when he joined the company in 2004.

The AISC, founded in 1921, is a non-profit technical institute and trade association serving the steel design and construction community. Through research, education, standardization, quality certification, technical assistance and market development, AISC’s aims to make structural steel the material of choice.
