I-20 Over US 49

Hinds-Rankin County, Mississippi

This 1,608-foot-long flyover ramp at the intersection of Interstate 20, Interstate 55 and US Highway 49 in Jackson, Mississippi, was originally designed as a cast-in-place concrete box girder bridge. The Mississippi DOT redesigned the bridge to take advantage of the lower cost and reduced interference with existing traffic under the bridge. Due to the tight radius of the curved structure, the 2,100 tons of structural steel was shop assembled to ensure proper fit.
