Wygen I, II and III – Units 3, 4 and 5 – Power Plants
Hirschfeld recently finished fabricating and erecting approximately 2,000 tons of structural and miscellaneous steel for the Wygen III, Unit 5 coal-fired power plant located near Gillette, Wyoming. This is the third Wygen coal-fired power plant completed by Hirschfeld in a six-year period. The other two were the Wygen I, Unit 3 Power Plant and the Wygen II, Unit 4 Power Plant (pictured). Together these plants provide over 300 MW of power for Black Hills Generation, Inc., and are “among the cleanest in the United States and the first to actually reduce mercury emissions.” All three projects were finished on schedule.
